USA TODAY’s Your Life Debuts Women Bloggers
Five new female-focused blogs complement site’s health and well-being content
MCLEAN, Va., March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — USA TODAY has launched five new blogs by top women writers, now appearing on yourlife.usatoday.com. Each blog complements the core mission of USA TODAY’s Your Life, launched online in November, to offer families the up-to-the-minute information they need to thrive personally and professionally, care for themselves and their families, nourish their bodies and shine through life’s challenges.
“The addition of these fresh female voices continues the USA TODAY commitment to publishing news and advice on topics that are vital to American families’ health and well-being,” said Heather Frank, vice president of consumer media for USA TODAY.
The women chosen by USA TODAY’s Your Life include entrepreneurial guru Tory Johnson, founder of womenforhire.com and well-known psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser, author of How to Be a Grown Up.
The complete list includes:
- Family and Friends
Stacy Kaiser is a licensed psychotherapist in Los Angeles and author of How to Be a Grown Up. She focuses on relationships and what she calls the basics of a good partnership: consideration, comfort and compromise. She is called on frequently for sound advice on topics as far ranging as disciplining teens and preserving marriages to surviving in-laws.
- OWN It
In partnership with BlogHer.com, OWN It features USA TODAY and BlogHer writers in a frank discussion of women and beauty and what beauty means. In collaboration with BlogHer’s “Own Your Beauty” campaign, the goal is to encourage and remind grown women that it is never too late to learn to love one’s self and influence the lives of those around them – mothers, friends, children, neighbors.
- Sleep Matters
What’s more interesting than sex these days? It’s sleep: How to get enough of it and why it’s so vital to our all-around health. Dr. Qanta Ahmed, who has a private practice in New York and is an associate professor of medicine at SUNY offers advice on emerging sleep research, the complicated world of sleep disorders as well as trends in how the American public’s lack of sleep can affect mood, weight, health, work and family.
- The WE-conomy
National career and entrepreneurial guru Tory Johnson is the founder of womenforhire.com. Her informed advice changes the lives of women who come to her workshops to get help with questions that range from how do I get a raise to why are so many moms starting their own businesses? Johnson’s WE-conomy will answer reader questions and offer real-life solutions on how to achieve work/life balance.
- Your Beauty Life
Lois Joy Johnson is a top beauty editor, writer, author and true product junkie. She was a founding editor of MORE magazine and is the author of the upcoming book, The Makeup Wakeup.
