YWCA Greater Los Angeles Celebrates 2011 Phenomenal Woman Awards
LOS ANGELES, May 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ – YWCA Greater Los Angeles (YWCA GLA) is proud to present the 2011 Phenomenal Woman Awards Luncheon, Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza. Orange carpet arrivals and reception are 11:30am – 12:30pm. Luncheon and awards ceremony are 12:30pm – 2:00pm. Sponsored by Union Bank, Edison International and AEG, the event theme is “Saluting Women who are Instruments of Change“.
The event will honor supermodel and international business mogul Kathy Ireland, CEO of Kathy Ireland Worldwide, with the 2011 Phenomenal Woman of the Year Award and Los Angeles Ninth District Council President Pro Tempore Jan Perry with the 2011 Phenomenal Community Leader Award.
Hosted by Clear Channel Radio Personality Josefa Salinas, the event will feature a special performance by Grammy nominated recording artist Kelly Price. Special invited guests and YWCA GLA supporters include Hill Harper, Isaiah Washington, Vanessa Williams, Kym Whitley and more.
With media sponsors including Los Angeles Confidential Magazine, Los Angeles Times and Clear Channel Radio, the Phenomenal Woman Awards fundraiser draws Southern California’s top women executives and leaders to salute their accomplishments before an audience of the Los Angeles business community. Companies have the opportunity to recognize their star employees at the event with certificates of recognition provided by the YWCA GLA. To participate, companies need only purchase a table or tables in advance and submit the names of the employees they wish to recognize. Partial proceeds from the event will benefit the YWCA GLA programs including: (1) Child Development; (2) Youth Services; (3) Job Training; (4) Sexual Assault Crises Services; (5) Advocacy and (6) Empowerment Projects.
