Meaden & Moore Partner Receives Athena Award
CLEVELAND, May 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Peter A. DeMarco, Vice President and Director of Tax at Meaden & Moore received the 2011 Northeast Ohio Athena Award.
The award is presented annually by Inside Business Magazine to two individuals in Northeast Ohio — one individual from the Greater Cleveland area and one individual from the Greater Akron area. This award is bestowed upon someone who has attained and embodies the highest level of professional excellence in her/his business or profession, has devoted time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community and actively assists women in realizing their leadership potential.
The ATHENA Award was first presented in 1982 and is administered by ATHENA International, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. ATHENA is an international non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, developing and honoring women leaders, inspiring women to achieve their full potential and creating balance in leadership worldwide. There are over 300 active award programs and more than 5000 awards have been presented to ATHENA Recipients in the United States and around the world.
Pete is one of a few men recognized nationally and the first to be recognized in Northeast Ohio for this very prestigious award. Almost 20 years ago Pete was instrumental in the development of Meaden & Moore’s Alternative Career Path (ACP) Program and has been a committed mentor and advocate for many in the firm. For the past 5 years he has been on the Board of the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and has been Board President for the last 2 years.
