AT&T Keeps Stanford University Athletics Fans Connected With AT&T Wi-Fi and Advanced Mobile Apps
PALO ALTO, Calif., May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — AT&T* and Stanford University Athletics today announced a five-year agreement for expanded wireless and broadband connectivity at nine Stanford University Athletics venues offering fans an enhanced wireless network, AT&T Wi-Fi, and advanced mobile applications that will help enrich the fan’s game-day experience. Fans can now use advanced wireless devices to check scores, access video, watch instant replays, post to social networking sites, or upload photos to friends while enjoying the live game experience and cheering on the Cardinal.
Stanford University is one of the first university campuses to bring AT&T Wi-Fi to all of its athletic venues. AT&T Wi-Fi will be available at Stanford Stadium, Maples Pavilion, Avery Aquatics Center and other venues as part of a new agreement with AT&T, an industry pioneer in Wi-Fi with the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network.**

As students and fans increasingly rely on their mobile device a greater number of Cardinal fans are connecting while watching Stanford sporting events. Now, it’s easier for fans to upload photos and access their favorite entertainment and social network sites while in Stanford venues by connecting their WI-Fi enabled device to a Wi-Fi network that is publicly accessible at no additional cost.
Fans will gain access to the AT&T Wi-Fi network at Stanford Athletics venues when they connect with any Wi-Fi enabled devices. With select Wi-Fi-enabled AT&T smartphones, they can easily connect to the AT&T Wi-Fi network without any setup or log-in required, through an auto-authentication process.

Cardinal fans will be able to access real-time game and player stats and video, promotional offers, integrated social networking and location-based services (LBS) and more. These new advanced applications for Cardinal fans enable them to access information 24/7 outside of the stadium as well as coordinate ‘watch parties’ with friends.
