HighReach Learning’s® Curriculum for Pre-K Approved by the West Virginia Department of Education
GREENSBORO, N.C., June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — HighReach Learning®, a division of Carson-Dellosa Publishing, LLC, and a leader in educational resources and curricula for early childhood education, is pleased to announce that its highly acclaimed Curriculum for Pre-K has been approved by the West Virginia Office of Instruction for use by Universal Pre-K providers.
“We are delighted that HighReach Learning’s® Curriculum for Pre-K has been adopted by yet another state,” said Judy L. Harris, CEO of Carson-Dellosa. “This important piece of curriculum is gaining momentum and recognition throughout the country and is proving to be a significant early childhood resource in various states. The West Virginia approval is a continuation of exceptionally strong state support and further reinforces our company position that high-quality early childhood resources are imperative to providing children with a strong foundation for learning. This addition to the growing list of states that have adopted our Curriculum for Pre-K is testimony to the caliber of early childhood instructional resources included in our portfolio of brands.”
Just recently, President Obama’s administration announced the third round of the Race to the Top program including the distribution of $500 million to expand access to early childhood programs. Education Secretary Arne Duncan maintains that this significant investment is designed to inspire bold reforms to address problems of uneven quality and access.
“Early-learning programs have been directly linked to academic achievement, graduation rates, and even college enrollment rates,” said Chris Sciarinno, Curriculum Director at HighReach Learning®. “Through our high-quality, standards-based curriculum programs, we are committed to supporting teachers in their efforts to provide young children with the most effective learning environments possible.”
In a highly competitive selection process, HighReach Learning’s® Curriculum for Pre-K was one of only three curricula approved in West Virginia out of a field of 13 curriculum providers. As a direct result of its selection, HighReach Learning® will attend the West Virginia Summer Pre-K Leadership Institute on June 28, 2011. HighReach will introduce Curriculum for Pre-K to various Universal Pre-K leadership teams representing 55 West Virginia counties. The program provides comprehensive, project-based approach curriculum content within a framework and aligns with state and national early learning standards. All HighReach Learning® curricula offer domain-based activities, family communication tools, and strategies to meet early childhood best practices.
