NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS: SAS Data Sets Now Available for Summary File 1
WASHINGTON, June 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Missouri State Data Center has released SAS data sets for 2010 Census Summary File 1. This tool can be accessed via uexplore/dexter at http://mcdc.missouri.edu/cgi-bin/uexplore?/pub/data/sf12010. SAS data sets are available for all states released so far, and the Missouri State Data Center will continue to produce them as states are released.
While the information can be downloaded as SAS data sets, it is also possible to extract it in other formats, including CSV files. This allows users unfamiliar with SAS, or without the software, to use the information. In addition, Summary File 1 information is also available from the new American FactFinder at http://factfinder.census.gov/ and the Census Bureau’s FTP site at http://www2.census.gov/census_2010/04-Summary_File_1/.
Summary File 1 is being released on a state by state flow basis during June through August and provides the most detailed local-local level information from the 2010 Census available to date. States already released include Alabama, California, Delaware, Hawaii, Kansas, Pennsylvania and Wyoming. States scheduled for release this week are Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Nebraska and North Carolina.
