Tom Madden, the former #2 dog at NBC, now CEO at TransMedia Group (www.transmediagroup.com), said his firm was hired to publicize veteran fraud fighter Linda Webb, who stars in what the firm’s PR campaign will bill as the most hard-hitting, crime-stopping reality series yet, Fraud Dog.
According to Madden, the series will dramatically educate the public about the many fraudulent schemes rampant in America, from storefront pill mills, reverse sell scams, money laundering, swoop and squat scams, workers’ compensation rip-offs, Ponzi schemes, to global organized fraud rings.
Madden said he and TransMedia’s president Glen Calder, a former producer at Geraldo Rivera and Inside Edition, will promote and help market the series to television networks interested in feeding the public’s insatiable desire to see criminals brought to justice following in the genre of popular shows like America’s Most Wanted.
Calder said publicity will underscore the passion that Webb, a former police detective investigator, has for busting fraudsters who every day hurt thousands of unsuspecting victims physically and financially. “We intend to show how badly the Fraud Dog wants to put crooks behind bars and eliminate their scams for good,” Calder said.
TransMedia’s strategy will be simple and direct. “The plan is to book Webb on television shows so she can give viewers tips on how they can spot scams and avoid getting stung by mortgage fraud, lottery scams or Medicare fraud. We want the public to hear the Fraud Dog bark her alerts so they get a sense of the ferocious bite her series will take out of fraud,” said Madden.
