Census Bureau News — Embargo of Marital Events of Americans: 2009 Report

WASHINGTON, Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Marital Events of Americans: 2009 -- This report examines marriage, divorce and widowhood in America. Historically, data on marriages and divorces in the U.S. were collected by the National Center for Health Statistics, but that program was discontinued in 1996. In 2008, the Census Bureau added questions about marital events to the American Community Survey (ACS).
