Jennings a draw as ABC tops in news

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) – ABC won a somber week of
the evening news following the August 7 death of its longtime
anchor Peter Jennings.

For the week ending Friday, ABC averaged 8.9 million total
viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data released
Tuesday. NBC averaged 8.2 million viewers and CBS 6.3 million.

ABC won every night except Wednesday. The Monday night
tribute to Jennings averaged 10.5 million viewers, the most for
a “World News Tonight” August broadcast since 1998.
