1,200 Young Leaders Dictate Their Demands For Change at One Young World 2011
ZURICH, Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — More than 1,200 young leaders from over 170 countries around the world will meet in Zurich today at the launch of One Young World 2011, to address the most challenging issues facing the world today.
At the most global youth summit in the world, young delegates will join some of the world’s most inspirational figures, including Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Sir Bob Geldof, Muhammad Yunus, Wael Ghonim and Jamie Oliver, to deliver their demands for change.
During the opening ceremony at Kongresshaus, delegates will be welcomed by the One Young World Zurich Choir and Zurich Mayor Corinne Mauch, before hearing inspiring keynote speeches from His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Sir Bob Geldof, along with the co-founders of One Young World, David Jones, Global CEO of Havas and Kate Robertson, UK Group Chairman of Euro RSCG.
One Young World gives delegates primarily under 25 years old a platform and forum afforded ordinarily only to those who lead our countries and corporations.
The 2011 Summit will comprise three days of interactive sessions and discussion plenary based on six key resolutions:
- Global Business
- Global Health
- Interfaith Dialogue
In addition, there will be a number of special sessions throughout the summit, including a ‘Women Up’ session attended by HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway.
