Cymer Celebrates its Sixth Year as Presenting Sponsor of San Diego Zoo Food & Wine Celebration

September 6, 2011

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ –San Diego-based tech leader Cymer, Inc. (Nasdaq: CYMI) is showing its support for the sixth consecutive year as the presenting sponsor of the upcoming 31st Annual San Diego Zoo Food & Wine Celebration, taking place on Saturday, Sept. 24. Proceeds from the event will go to the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research, a division of the Zoo committed to generating, sharing, and applying scientific knowledge that is vital to the conservation of animals, plants, and habitats worldwide.

This year’s celebration promises to be the wildest food and wine tasting event in San Diego, boasting more than 175 local food and beverage vendors. Additionally, guests will enjoy live music; a silent auction; the Critter Casino; animal meet-ups with Joan Embery, the Zoo’s conservation ambassador; and rides on the Skyfari aerial tram.

“Our annual Food & Wine Celebration (formerly known as Celebration for the Critters) is a highly-anticipated event in San Diego as it marries the best culinary experiences the city has to offer with a fun night at the Zoo to support important conservation efforts,” said Mark Stuart, president of The Foundation of the Zoological Society of San Diego at the San Diego Zoo. “Without the continued support of sponsors like Cymer, this event would not be possible, so we are thankful for its loyal contributions and hope to keep the event going for years to come.”

Cymer President and COO Ed Brown added, “There’s nothing more fulfilling than funding an event that supports such an important, and largely overlooked, group–animals. We’re proud to continue sponsoring this meaningful event to give a voice to a community that can’t speak for itself, and we encourage everyone to come and partake in a truly enjoyable evening that has become a San Diego staple.”

Headquartered in San Diego, Cymer has given $4 million since 2006 to support educational, environmental, civic, cultural, and health initiatives that enrich the lives of its employees and the San Diego community in which they work and live.

Media interested in speaking or meeting with a spokesperson from the San Diego Zoo about the event, or a Cymer representative regarding its involvement, are encouraged to contact Taryn Unruh at 619-234-0345 or unruh@formulapr.com.
