LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Samaire Armstrong (HBO's "Entourage") and Kevin Zegers are starring in "It's a Boy Girl Thing," a romantic comedy developed by Elton John's production company.
Sharon Osbourne, wife and manager of rock star Ozzy Osbourne, also stars in the project, which began shooting in Toronto this week, and moves next month to the U.K.
Armstrong and Zegers play two teenage next-door neighbors who are sworn enemies. Waking up one day to find themselves in each other's bodies, each sets out to destroy the other's high school reputation before going from infuriation to infatuation. Osbourne and Maury Chaykin ("Where the Truth Lies") will play Zegers' parents.
Nick Hurran ("Little Black Book") is directing from a script by Geoff Deane.
"I see it as a romantic comedy within a body switching movie, (rather) than just a high-concept movie," Hurran said. "It happens, but most of the enjoyment is out of the romantic comedy."
Hurran also said John, via his Rocket Pictures banner, has been instrumental in helping the movie get traction.
"He's good at getting it together and getting it out there, which for an independent movie, that's a huge part of the battle. It's not under the studio system, and a producer like him provides openings. He's a fantastic asset."
John and Hurran are putting together the soundtrack, and John might contribute a new song. There is no U.S. distributor for the movie as of yet. Prospero Pictures is also producing.
Zegers starred in the "Air Bud" movies, and appears in the upcoming "Transamerica" opposite Felicity Huffman. Armstrong, who played talent agent Ari's assistant in "Entourage," will next be seen with Lindsay Lohan in "Just My Luck."
