Depeche Mode scraps Ft. Lauderdale tour opener
NEW YORK (Billboard) – British synth-pop band Depeche Mode
has canceled its planned North American tour opener scheduled
for Wednesday at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. due to power outages and
curfew limitations resulting from Hurricane Wilma.
The tour, which comes in support of the group’s new album,
“Playing the Angel,” will now begin Thursday in St. Petersburg,
Fla.
Tickets from Wednesday’s BankAtlantic Center show will be
honored for the St. Petersburg date, but refunds are also
available to fans that cannot make Thursday’s gig.
Depeche Mode warmed up for the tour with a rare club show
last Friday at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. The 16-song set ran
the gamut from oldies like “I Feel You,” “Personal Jesus,”
“Policy of Truth” and “Enjoy the Silence” to such new album
cuts as the single “Precious,” “A Pain That I’m Used To,”
“Suffer Well” and “John the Revelator.”
