Fox, Kennedy cousin team for political series
By Nellie Andreeva
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Fox is teaming up with a
Kennedy cousin to develop a documentary-style series loosely
based on his attempts to enter the family business.
The untitled project will star soap opera actor Christopher
Kennedy Lawford, son of Rat Pack member Peter Lawford and
Patricia Kennedy, sister of President John F. Kennedy.
He would play one of the members of the younger generation
of Kennedys who is coming out of an extended adolescence to run
for a minor political post.
The project, which has received a script commitment from
the network, will be shot in the single-camera format with a
Lawford, 50, received high marks for his memoir, “Symptoms
of Withdrawal: A Memoir of Snapshots and Redemption,” which was
published in October.
With self-deprecating humor, it chronicles Lawford’s life
of privilege, his well-publicized drug and alcohol addiction
and exploits with women and his painful recovery from chemical
dependency. Some of Lawford’s real-life struggles are expected
to be featured in his character’s back story on the show.
Lawford will serve as a producer, alongside his friend
Gavin Grazer, a fellow actor and brother of producer Brian
Grazer, whose Imagine Entertainment banner is also on board.
As an actor, Lawford is best known for his roles on daytime
dramas “All My Children” and “General Hospital.”
