LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – ABC Family has ordered
eight episodes of the quirky drama series “Three Moons Over
Milford,” which is set for a possible summer premiere.

The show is set in a small town whose residents take their
lives to the extreme — quitting jobs, indulging vices and
basically living as if today were their last — upon learning
that a cosmic explosion is threatening Earth’s existence.

Cast members include Sam Murphy, Nora Dunn, Samantha Quan
and Rob Boltin. Production is set to start in the spring,

ABC Family is making a big push into the world of drama.
The cable channel recently picked up two other series: “Kyle
XY,” which centers on a mysterious teenage boy who appears to
be a newborn based on his actions, and “Balancing Act” (working
title), about a young cop who moves his family back to the
inner-city neighborhood where he was raised in the hopes of
making a difference. In addition, new episodes of the drama
“Beautiful People” are set to premiere in March.

Just last Monday, the network’s first-ever original drama,
“Wildfire,” set a network viewership record as 2.3 million
viewers tuned in to its second-season premiere.
