LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "American Idol" star Simon Cowell has signed a five-year production deal with Fox Television Studios, aiming to develop programming both for television and for digital platforms such as the Internet and cell phones.
Cowell late last year also cut a deal with Fox Television Studios sibling Fox Broadcasting Co. and producer Fremantle Media North America to keep "American Idol" on the air through at least 2009.
The latest edition of "American Idol" premieres on January 17 on Fox.
