Paisley leads country music academy nominations

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) – Brad Paisley led this
year’s Academy of Country Music Awards nominations announced on
Wednesday, scoring in six categories, including top male
vocalist and album of the year for “Time Well Wasted.”

Paisley also was recognized for single of the year for
“Alcohol,” song of the year, video of the year and vocal event
– a duet with Dolly Parton.

On Paisley’s heels were veteran performers Brooks & Dunn
and newcomer Sugarland with five nominations each.

Brooks & Dunn got the nod for entertainer of the year along
with Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban
in addition to nominations for top vocal duo, and best single,
song and video of the year.

Sugarland was nominated for top vocal group, top new vocal
group, and best single, album and song of the year.

In addition to Paisley, nominees for top male vocalist were
Dierks Bentley, George Strait, Chesney, and Urban.

Top female vocalist nods went to Sara Evans, Martina
McBride, Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson and Lee Ann Womack.

Winners of the 41st annual awards will be announced May 3
when the academy stages its show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
