By Tatiana Siegel
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Michael Pena, who
delivered a breakout performance as the smooth-talking
locksmith in best-picture Oscar winner "Crash," has signed to
star opposite Mark Wahlberg in the political thriller
presidential assassination he was trying to prevent. He is
forced to go on the run while trying to track down the real
killer and find out who betrayed him. Pena will play the
nemesis of Wahlberg's character.
Antoine Fuqua is directing the Paramount project from an
adaptation of Stephen Hunter's 1993 novel "Point of Impact."
Shooting is scheduled to begin June 19 in Vancouver.
Pena stars opposite Nicolas Cage in Oliver Stone's "World
Trade Center," which Paramount will release August 9. His
credits also include "Million Dollar Baby," and the TV series
"The Shield" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."
