Zeta-Jones conjuring Houdini role

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Catherine Zeta-Jones is
in negotiations to star opposite Guy Pearce in “Death Defying
Acts,” an indie movie about Harry Houdini.
The film centers on Houdini during the height of his career
in 1926, when he toured the world, amassing large crowds with
his elaborate and daring escape performances. Zeta-Jones would
play a psychic who has a passionate affair with Houdini.
Director Gillian Armstrong (“Little Women,” “Oscar and
Lucinda”) will start shooting the film in the U.K. later this
Zeta-Jones, who won an Academy Award for her supporting
turn in the musical “Chicago,” is currently shooting an
untitled film for “Shine” director Scott Hicks in New York.
Pearce stars in “The Proposition,” which opens Friday in New
York and Los Angeles.
