London Coal Futures to Start Trading
June 1, 2006
London’s IntercontinentalExchange plans to launch its first coal futures as global demand for the commodity skyrockets.
The all-electronic exchange move comes weeks after Leipzig’s European Energy Exchange started the region’s first energy futures, the Financial Times reported Thursday.
The ICE offering resembles that of its rival, with contracts based on the main coal route of exports from Richards Bay in South Africa to Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
