May 29--Silver City Road, closed earlier in the year due to flood damage, will reopen for 4-wheel drive high-clearance vehicles and ATVs on Memorial Day weekend. The Jordan Creek Road into Silver City is open only to ATVs.
Silver City Road is a one-lane primitive road, with sharp curves and few turnouts. Motorists should remember, that uphill traffic has the right of way and down hill traffic must yield. "We are asking that the public be courteous and drive carefully," said Owyhee County Sheriff Gary Aman.
County officials are not recommending towing trailers on Silver City Road due to the grade of the primitive road, the sharp curves and the necessity to back up to allow other traffic to pass. Travel is at your own risk, Aman said.
