Alcan Sebree Supports Kentucky Communities Through Local Economic Development Efforts

SEBREE, KY, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alcan Inc. (NYSE, TSX: AL) announced today that its Sebree aluminum smelter is pledging US$50,000 to support Northwest Kentucky Forward's (NWKF) efforts to bring economic development to the surrounding communities. NWKF is a public-private partnership charged with leading economic development in Kentucky's Henderson, McLean, Union and Webster Counties.

NWKF works aggressively to recruit new and retain existing businesses, encourage entrepreneurship, and develop a workforce for both the present and the future. The organization began a fundraising campaign earlier this year with the goal of raising US$2.2 million over a five-year period.
