*Network battles. CBS, powered by new episodes of CSI and Shark and the NCAA basketball championships, won the week in viewers, averaging 11.4 million. Fox, ABC, NBC and CW trailed, in that order. In the advertiser-coveted young-adult demographic (18-49), Fox scored a victory, powered by top-rated American Idol and House. It was followed, in order, by CBS, ABC, NBC and CW.

*Happy anniversary. The 20th edition of Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards enjoyed its largest audience ever, 6.1 million viewers, a 3.1% increase over last season. The ceremony, the most-watched basic-cable program of the week, also hit its highest number in kids (6-11) and tweens (9-14). In addition, more than 40 million votes were cast for this year's winners, breaking another Choice record.

*Nature's wonder. Discovery's Planet Earth continued its strong showing, averaging more than 5.6 million viewers during two hours on Sunday.

*Comings and goings. FX's Dirt closed out its first season with 2.4 million viewers catching the much-ballyhooed kiss between star Courteney Cox and Friends friend Jennifer Aniston. ABC Family's Wildfire closed out the season with slightly more than 1 million viewers. ABC's Sons of Hollywood attracted 947,000 viewers in its series premiere Sunday. On the season premiere side, Comedy Central's Mind of Mencia and Reno 911! opened to audiences of 1.6 million and 1.3 million, respectively.

*Favorable comparison. Showtime's The Tudors premiered to 869,000 viewers Sunday, besting the debuts of two recent Showtime series, Dexter and Weeds, by 44% and 78%, respectively. It was the pay-cable network's best launch in three years, tying with Fat Actress. In a push to reach non-subscribers, Showtime says more than 1 million people sampled free online and on-demand showings before the TV premiere.

*Friday night flight. NBC's Law & Order had its fewest viewers for an original episode, 7.5 million. The drama moved this season from Wednesday to Friday, a night with a much smaller audience.
