DISH Network(TM) Adds V-Me to Its Basic Channel Line-Up

Posted on: Thursday, 19 April 2007, 09:00 CDT

V-me, the first Spanish-language network developed with public TV, EchoStar Communications (NASDAQ: DISH) and its DISH Network™ today announced the addition of V-me to DISH Network's basic tier (America's Top 100) and all DishLATINO programming packages. The agreement brings V-me's unique blend of Spanish-language entertainment, public affairs and children's programming to DISH Network's 13.1 million subscribers.

Beginning today, all DISH Network's subscribers have access to V-me's mix of original productions, exclusive premieres and acquisitions, and popular public television programs specially adapted for U.S. Hispanics.

"V-me exists to give quality program choices in Spanish to Latino families all across America," said Carmen DiRienzo, President of V-me. "The extensive reach of DISH Network helps make V-me a truly national platform that reflects the interests and achievements of the entire U.S. Hispanic community."

V-me is available to all residential DISH Network customers on DISH Network Ch.9415. In addition, the channel is also available to all DishLATINO customers on Ch. 846 at no additional cost.

"DishLATINO focuses on high-quality programming for U.S. Hispanics, and children and family programming is key to tapping into this growing demographic," said Eric Sahl, senior vice president of Programming for DISH Network. "V-me provides multigenerational entertainment for the entire Latino family, offering both our DishLATINO and our basic customers even more value, with all-digital prices as low as $24.99 per month."

V-me (from the Spanish veme, meaning see me) has organized its programming into four categories: kids, lifestyle, factual and current affairs, and movies and specials.

V-me Kids -- Growing and Playing

For parents, caregivers and kids, V-me devotes 36 hours per week to programming that promotes a healthy, positive environment, where Latino and non-Latino preschool children can learn and have fun in Spanish. V-me brings a host of lovable characters to its young audience with shows such as Jim de la Luna, Las Tres Mellizas Bebes, Los Pies Magicos de Franny, Connie La Vaquita and Plaza Sésamo. V-me supports its on-air programming with educational online resources for kids and parents.

V-me Lifestyle -- Living and Changing

V-me's diverse lifestyle line-up, presented early in the morning, in the afternoon and on weekends, reflects the high interest among Latinos in programming related to topics as diverse as health, parenting, nutrition, travel, food, home, design, self-improvement and sports. Starting the day with V-me's original production, Aire Yoga, extending into the afternoon with the Peabody Award-winning parenting show, Los Ninos en Su Casa, and afternoon cooking programs from Scripps Food Network, V-me Lifestyle offers programs for every taste and interest.

V-me Factual & Current Affairs -- Exploring and Expressing

V-me's primetime line-up presents a mix of intelligent entertainment and opinion, with programming developed, selected and adapted for American Latinos covering current affairs, history, science, biography and natural history. Headlining V-me's primetime schedule is the network's flagship original program, Viva Voz -- a nightly interview program where a variety of hosts, newsmakers and celebrities engage in freewheeling discussions about current affairs and social issues affecting society as a whole, with a unique Latino perspective.

V-me Movies & Specials -- Celebrating and Enjoying

Today's Latin cinema constantly reveals new faces, voices, and images to Latinos and non-Latinos alike. V-me en Pantalla presents a contemporary Spanish-language film every night, and to reach the widest possible audience, V-me offers the option of English subtitles in closed-captioning. V-me's weekly entertainment specials highlight international concerts, as well as other performances in the arts and pop culture.
