Rimage Corporation (Nasdaq:RIMG) today announced that a new major national retail customer has placed a $6.5 million order for Rimage's disc publishing systems, including maintenance contracts and replacement disc surface printer ribbons. The order encompasses a national storewide rollout for this retail customer.
Shipments of the high-end Producer line hardware and related printer ribbons are expected to commence later this month, with the majority of the order scheduled to ship in Rimage's third quarter. The on-demand publishing of customers' photos on discs is expected to be the initial application for these systems, but this equipment is capable of supporting multiple retail applications, including video and music on-demand.
Bernard P. (Bernie) Aldrich, Rimage's president and chief executive officer, commented: "As a storewide rollout with a major national retailer, this order marks another significant step forward in our efforts aimed at penetrating the retail marketplace. We are gratified by the confidence that our new retail customer is demonstrating in Rimage's advanced disc publishing technology, which is becoming the retail industry standard."
Following the close of the first quarter, Rimage also announced an order totaling approximately $8.0 million for disc publishing systems and related maintenance contracts from another major national retailer. This order is expected to ship in Rimage's second and third quarters.
