TV Guide Announces Broad Sponsorship of This Summer's American Idols Live! Tour

Posted on: Monday, 2 July 2007, 09:19 CDT

Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMST), a leading media, entertainment and technology company, announced today that it will be a sponsor of American Idols Live! Tour 2007, traveling to over 50 venues this summer. The tour stars this year's ten American Idol finalists, including winner Jordin Sparks.

As part of the sponsorship, TV Guide has produced an exclusive 18-page Tour Guide publication, which will be wrapped around the current issue of TV Guide magazine and given to everyone who attends the concerts nationwide. In addition, TV Guide will have a special "Red Carpet" booth in the concourse at each venue where fans will be able to experience their very own "celebrity moment" by taking photos on the TV Guide Idol Tour "Red Carpet." The photos can be retrieved and e-mailed to friends after the show by logging on to www.tvguide.com/idoltour. Concert attendees will also have the chance to appear on the TV Guide Network, which will air tour updates throughout the summer.

"We are thrilled to be involved in the American Idols Live! Tour, which has been a major concert franchise for years," said Alan Cohen, chief marketing officer, Gemstar-TV Guide. "We're excited to showcase the TV Guide brand, our already strong association with the American Idol franchise, and expose everyone who attends the concerts to our multiple media platforms that reach more than 73 million unique consumers each week."

The Special TV Guide Tour Guide is a full color, photo-rich mini magazine that features 18 pages of exciting and exclusive information about the Idols taking part in the 2007 tour. Produced by the editorial staff at TV Guide magazine, the Tour Guide features exclusive photos of and interviews with the Idols as well as scoop on the tour. More than a half-million will be distributed during the tour, which kicks off on July 6 in Sunrise, Florida.

Justin Guarini and Kimberly Caldwell, both previous Idol finalists and the hosts of Reality Chat, Idol Tonight and Idol Chat on TV Guide Network, will also make special appearances at four Idol Venues: Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; St. Louis MO; and East Rutherford, NJ during the tour.

American Idols Live! 2007 is produced by 19 Entertainment, a leading creator, provider and promoter of globally successful, music-based entertainment events.
