July 12, 2007

William (Bill) McGorry has been appointed Chairman of Broadcasting & Cable’s Hall of Fame. In this role, McGorry will oversee the nominating process and manage the annual awards event, held this year on October 22 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. Proceeds from this black-tie event will benefit the Broadcasters’ Foundation and Cable Positive.

With more than 20 years experience in the publishing industry, McGorry was instrumental in the growth of some of the media industries’ most well-read business publications, including Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News. Previously, McGorry served on several industry boards including the Broadcaster’s Foundation and the International Radio & Television Society Foundation Inc. Berger Award from Cable Positive; the Vanguard Award, which he received from the National Cable & Telecommunications Association; and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Women in Cable Telecommunications. McGorry was also inducted as a member of the Cable Pioneers organization.

“Given my history with B&C’s Hall of Fame over the past ten years, I look forward to using my knowledge of the industry and the event to enrich the Hall of Fame program,” states McGorry.

Marking its 17th year, Broadcasting & Cable’s Hall of Fame honors radio, television, cable and satellite personalities who have been made significant contributions to the electronic arts. Past honorees include David Sarnoff, William S. Paley, John Malone, Jackie Gleason, Sumner Redstone, Johnny Carson, Tom Brokaw, Ted Koppel, Dan Rather and Dick Clark.
