Gilman Law LLP, a National Law Firm Representing the Victims of Defective Products, is Investigating Injuries caused by the Inflatable Banzai Falls In-Ground Pool Slide.
Naples, FL (PRWEB) October 19, 2011
Gilman Law LLP, a national law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of those injured by defective consumer products, is investigating injuries involving the Banzai Falls In-Ground Pool Slide, an inflatable slide manufactured by SLB Toys USA, and sold by various retailers, including Toys âœRâ Us, Wal-Mart and Amazon.com. The Banzai Falls In-Ground Pool Slide is allegedly prone to collapse when used, and has been blamed for causing serious injuries, including:
Spinal cord injuries
U.S. product safety standards require that inflatable pool slides must be able to support 350 pounds without giving way or deforming. Banzai Falls In-Ground Pool Slides allegedly deform under any weight. It has also been alleged that as a personâs weight shifts on the slide while going down, the air becomes displaced and renders the slide unable to support any load. “eagletribune.com/latestnews/x2021666277/-20-6M-award-in-pool-slide-death” as reported by the Eagle-Tribune.
On October 15, 2011, the “eagletribune.com/latestnews/x2021666277/-20-6M-award-in-pool-slide-death” Eagle-Tribune reported that a Massachusetts Superior Court jury had ordered retailer Toys âœRâ Us to pay $20.6 million â“ including $18 million in punitive damages to the family of a 29-year-old woman who died as a result of a Banzai Falls In-Ground Pool Slide collapse. According to a lawsuit filed on behalf of her husband and daughter, Robin Aleo sustained a broken neck and spinal cord injury that left her a quadriplegic following the collapse of the slide in July 2006. Aleo was unable to breath on her own, and a day after the accident, she was taken off life-support and died in the hospital. Her daughter was just 18-months-old when Aleo died.
Her familyâs lawsuit alleged that the inflatable slide that killed Robin Leo was not tested in accordance with U.S. product safety laws. At trial, a Toys âœRâ Us executive acknowledged during testimony that the inflatable slide was tested for other product safety rules â” and twice failed, once for containing lead in excess of federal limits â” but not for compliance with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commissionâs pool slide regulation.
