Military BibleStick Project Will Reach Out Through Christian Radio/TV and Churches Around the Country This Veterans Day
Over 900 churches and more than 230 radio and TV stations participating
Albuquerque, N.M. (PRWEB) November 07, 2011
Faith Comes By Hearing’s Military BibleStick project has a lot of activity going on around Veterans Day this year. The ministry decided nearly a year ago to focus on the holiday – which falls on 11-11-11 for the first time ever – as a natural fit to reach out to Americans who may want to partner in supporting Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines with the Word of God in audio.
The project has freely given more than 143,000 BibleSticks to requesting chaplains since 2008. The pocket-sized, digital audio device contains a word-for-word dramatized version of the New Testament. Chaplains make them available to troops in pre-deployment briefings, counseling sessions, Bible studies, weekly chapels and other spiritual services.
This Friday, more than 200 Christian radio stations will participate in letting their listeners know about the Military BibleStick and the great demand for it by chaplains and troops. Dotting the entire country, these stations are standing strong in support of America’s brave men and women in uniform.
On the TV side, Faith Comes By Hearing produced a broadcast-quality, half-hour special that details the project and talks about how this little audio device is making a big impact on this generation of soldiers. More than 30 stations have agreed to air the program on Veterans Day and/or over the holiday weekend.
Continuing their tradition of working closely with churches across the country, the ministry reports that over 900 churches will be presenting the Military BibleStick project to their congregations throughout the month of November.
“This outpouring of support from all across the country is extremely humbling,†says Jon Wilke, military veteran who is the spokesman for the ministry’s project. “I know how important this type of support is to those who wear the uniform – and to those of us who have had the honor to wear it in the past.â€
Wilke and members of Faith Comes By Hearing’s leadership will be doing live interviews on partnering radio networks throughout the day on 11-11-11.
Radio and TV stations have access to audio and video material directly through the ministry’s website. (Radio can link here and TV here.)
