Dove Medical Press Becomes First Medical and Scientific Publisher to Gain carboNZero Certification

carboNZero certification has been achieved by Dove Medical Press, the first medical and scientific publisher to become carbon neutral by measuring, managing, reducing and mitigating the emissions they canât reduce by purchasing verified carbon credits.

The emissions for the 2010-2011 period were verified by an independent auditor at 10.61 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents. This is equivalent to the emissions created from driving around 45,000km in a medium sized petrol car.

The carboNZero program is an internationally recognized Greenhouse Gas certification scheme â“ commonly referred to as carbon footprinting â“ for organizations, products, services and events, offering optional mitigation strategies through the provision of credible and verified offsets. The carboNZero program was established in 2001 by Landcare Research New Zealand Limited, one of New Zealand’s leading Crown Research Institutes, owned by the New Zealand government. The program is based on over a decade of solid research on climate change, greenhouse gas measurement and carbon monitoring.
