Tegrit Group is pleased to announce Michael J. Olah, J.D., LL.M. as the new Director of Technical and Legal Compliance. In addition to overseeing the ERISA team, Michael will also be responsible for managing Tegrit Group´s Plan Conversion team. Olah will be active in consulting with new and existing clients on ERISA and retirement plan industry matters and available as a subject matter expert to all departments at Tegrit Group. Michael will be a valuable resource to the professional community we serve, acting in a consulting and industry speaker capacity for advisors and CPA firms that work with Tegrit Group.

About Michael J. Olah

Olah brings over 27 years of industry experience spanning all aspects of retirement plan design, documentation, administrative process and procedures, compliance testing, controversy resolution and fiduciary concerns. Olah has worked as a practicing lawyer and as a member of the senior management team of several retirement plan service providers and institutional trustees prior to joining Tegrit Group. This diverse experience provides a depth and breadth of expertise that will allow him and his team to assist clients at all levels — from strategic planning and benefit designs that accomplish specific corporate goals through vendor management, fee benchmarking and negotiation, fiduciary best practice analysis and implementation, to operational process improvement, error correction, root cause analysis, and loss mitigation.

Olah received his law degree from the University of Akron in 1985, and his LL.M. (Taxation/Benefits) from Case Western Reserve University in 1995. Olah has spoken frequently at industry conferences, professional associations, and before client committees on matters pertaining to fiduciary best practices, industry trends and current legislative and regulatory matters. He has also taught various courses in paralegal studies curricula on employee benefits and most of the course offered under the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) program offered jointly by the Wharton School of Business and the International Foundation of Employee Benefits. Olah has also authored and co-authored various articles and “white papers” on fiduciary responsibility, investment committee best practices, and employee benefits in mergers and acquisition.
