Everblue Will Provide Interplay Energy’s New Intercaz Free to Students During BPI Training

June 28, 2012

Everblue will provide Intercaz, which gives students more practice for the field test during the BPI certification course.

Huntersville, NC (PRWEB) June 28, 2012

Everblue and Interplay Energy finalized a partnership that will allow students to use Intercaz for free during their Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst or Envelope training course.

Intercaz is a hands-on video game-style program that gives BPI students more experience with the steps required to perform an energy audit of a house. The software features a strong focus on combustion safety.

Combustion safety is the most important part on the BPI Building Analyst field test. BPI requires that students make an 85 percent or higher on the combustion part alone, or they will fail the entire test.

“We’re really excited to be introducing Intercaz into our BPI training program,” said Bethany Lockerbie, Everblue’s BPI program manager. “Everblue has always valued interactive learning, and the Intercaz software will serve as a great resource for students looking for more exposure to combustion safety training. It is imperative that our graduates are equipped with full knowledge and understanding regarding the work they will be doing on a day-to-day basis.”

Everblue is the sole national partner with access to Intercaz in the classroom, which gives Everblue´s students a national competitive edge in the BPI and energy auditor workforce. It will allow students a higher chance for success in the course by giving them more time to practice and perfect their skills.

Intercaz will be included for free to the students in the BPI certification course for the duration of the one-week course. After completion, students will be given the option to purchase the Intercaz software at a discounted rate and continue using it to maintain their skills.

“[Intercaz] will help small businesses build their energy auditing services,” said Amy Malloy, marketing analyst at Everblue. “BPI Certification is nationally recognized and is a requirement for many home energy retrofits and weatherization incentive programs. Everblue’s role in training this workforce is significant, and it is through our comprehensive training and educational partnerships that we hold the reputation for being the most respected organization for BPI training.”

Intercaz fits well with the BPI training course content at Everblue because it:

  •     Allows for self-paced learning
  •     Gives immediate feedback on tasks
  •     Shows measurable results using the field training scoring system
  •     Provides a game-based learning atmosphere for better retention
  •     Offers plenty of practice

After students complete the BPI certification course, they are required to maintain their certification by taking continuing education courses. Intercaz´s one-year subscription is certified by BPI to count for 10 continuing education units, which gives students an economical way to maintain their certification after completing the course.
