Rueil-Malmaison, Paris (France) (PRWEB) July 13, 2012
In addition to its previous 3.5m round finalized mid-June, Lucibel completed an additional capital increase mainly subscribed by Aster Capital, a major player of European venture capital, specialized in the energy and environment sectors and sponsored by Alstom, Solvay Rhodia and Schneider Electric.
Created in 2008 and headquartered in France, Lucibel markets in 15 countries worldwide a complete range of LED (Light Emitting Diod) lamps and fixtures combining quality and performance and allowing customers to drastically reduce energy spending and maintenance costs. LED technology in lighting provides building managers with an excellent return on investment thanks to its low consumption, its life span and its total compatibility with intelligent management systems (℠smart lighting´).
Thanks to its assets, Lucibel succeeded in convincing Aster Capital to participate to the development of its activities by an investment of 1.5m. Aster Capital will also provide support to the implementation of several commercial and technical cooperation agreements between Lucibel and Aster Capital´s sponsors in Europe and in Asia.
Aster Capital is a venture capital investment firm sponsored by Alstom, Solvay Rhodia and Schneider Electric, three global industrial leaders in energy and environment markets, who jointly invested in the fund managed by Aster Capital. The technological and commercial expertise of these sponsors represents a significant asset in analyzing investment opportunities and supporting portfolio companies.
Jean Marc Bally, Managing director of Aster Capital, added: “We have identified the LED lighting market as one of the key markets of the next years, whose dynamics will favor the emergence of new entrants who may “move the lines” and challenge incumbent players. Lucibel managed to build a quality and differentiated offer and we are convinced that this company will be one of the reference players on this market. As we always do with our other equity stakes, we will make the best use of our industrial sponsors´ assets to speed up the development of Lucibel in the next years. The alliance of Lucibel´s and our sponsor´s know-hows, in particular Schneider Electric´s, will allow developing very innovative lighting solutions.”
Several concrete commercial initiatives have already been launched, in particular the launch on the market in Asia of a first lighting solution jointly designed by Schneider Electric and Lucibel.
Frédéric Granotier, founder and CEO of Lucibel, concluded: “The commitment of Aster Capital towards us is a recognition of Lucibel´s status as a referent player in spite of the company´s young age. The opportunities brought by the future cooperation with a global leader such as Schneider Electric, recognized for the quality of its offer and for its smart positioning in the field of energy management, are a tremendous reward for the work achieved by Lucibel´s teams as well as an exceptional development opportunity for the company. Schneider Electric is a major player in the Lighting Control sector and represents for us an ideal partner to support us in the development of solutions aiming at improving the energy performance of buildings.”
Lucibel is an innovative French company which designs in France, manufactures in its own factory and markets new-generation lighting products and solutions stemming from the LED technology (Light-Emitting Diod). For more information, please refer to our web site http://www.lucibel.com
