The Propecia® lawyers of OnlineLawyerSource.com are announcing that they are now offering free case reviews for men who have persistent sexual side effects after using the male pattern hair loss treatment Propecia® (finasteride).
According to the lawyers, men who experience long term sexual side effects such as erectile dysfunction, decreased sex drive and impotence may be eligible for financial compensation.
A new study titled “Persistent Sexual Side Effects of Finasteride: Could They Be Permanent?” suggests that the sexual side effects could be long term. The study was published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine on July 12, 2012.
The study involved interviews of 54 men who said they were experiencing persistent sexual side effects after using Propecia®. All of the participants said they never experienced sexual side effects before taking the medication. Ninety-six percent of the men said their problems lasted for more than a year after they stopped taking the hair loss treatment.
The men claimed to have experienced a range of sexual side effects, including erectile dysfunction, decreased sexual drive, problems with orgasms, and pain in their genitals. Some of the men also reported neurological side effects, including anxiety, depression and mental fogginess.
“Our findings make me suspicious that this drug may have done permanent damage to these men,” said Dr. Michael Irwig, the author of the study.
Merck first developed Propecia® as a treatment for enlarged prostate in 1992. It was marketed as Proscar®. Upon its approval in 1997, Merck noted that a few participants reported sexual side effects during the clinical trials. But, the company claimed that the side effects went away when the men stopped taking the drugs.
Researchers are just starting to look into possible neurological side effects.
The Propecia® lawyers of OnlineLawyerSource.com are announcing that they are now offering free case reviews for men who took Propecia® for any given time and developed lingering sexual side effects.
