Spanish-British co-operation: Conergy supplies modules for 5MW solar power plant

5.3 million kilowatt hours of clean solar energy for 3,000 households in Cornwall

Hamburg / Madrid (PRWEB) July 26, 2012

26 July 2012 — Just a few months after the 5.3 megawatt large-scale power plant in Murcia was connected to the grid, Conergy’s long-standing Spanish partner Solaer has once again turned to the system supplier’s quality and experience to help it take the plunge in the UK market. For its first major 5 megawatt project in the UK, the Spanish company has installed more than 21,000 Conergy PH solar modules. The solar power plant is located in the village of Eastcott near Bude in Cornwall, and it will produce around 5.3 million kilowatt hours of solar power each year — enough to supply more than half the population of the Bude area with environmentally sound electricity. At the same time, the solar park will prevent more than 4 million pounds of harmful CO2 emissions.

“This project is a great example of how cross-border solar partnerships can really work,” says Luis Jimenez Gutierrez, Managing Director of Conergy Spain. “We are delighted that our long-time partners Solaer have relied on our expertise to assist them in entering the UK market and that our partnership is moving forward so successfully. Conergy has been active in the UK market for some years and has already installed some large-scale plants, including a 5 megawatt installation in Hawton that at the time was Britain’s biggest solar park.”

Ignacio Arganza, Managing Director of Solaer, adds: “Conergy has in-depth knowledge of the UK solar market. This knowhow and our excellent experience of working with Conergy products were deciding factors for us. It’s good to have Conergy as an experienced partner and expert at our side on whom we can rely on 100% at all times — especially when we’re working on this important first project in a new market.”
