“According to the Department of Labor Statistics, the number of medical assistant careers is expected to grow as much as 31% over the next decade,” said Dr. Leslie Gargiulo, Ashworth College´s Chief Academic Officer. “To keep up with the demand for qualified members of the health delivery team, it´s imperative that we give our graduates every opportunity to succeed — which includes providing the most up-to-date course content and a path to certification.”

Once a student completes the base Medical Billing and Claims online training program, Ashworth allows each graduate to sit for the Medical Administrative Assistant Certification (CMMA) exam which is administered through a partnership with the National Healthcareer Association.

Ashworth´s Medical Office Assistant Program

Ashworth´s nationally accredited Medical Office Assistant program is comprised of 24comprehensive lessons which include learning objectives, lecture notes, review questions, online multiple-choice open-book exams and written assignments. Lessons include:

  •     Medical Insurance Processing and Coding, Medical Coding and Insurance Claims Processing, and Medical Billing and Accounting

  •     Legal and Ethical Issues
  •     Effective Medical Office Communication

  •     Managing the Flow of Medical Records
  •     Telephone Techniques and Scheduling
  •     Patient Reception and Education
  •     Anatomy and Physiology
  •     Assisting with Patients
  •     Physical Therapy and Medical Emergencies
  •     Laboratory Procedures
  •     Nutrition and Diagnostic Equipment
  •     Pharmacology and Drug Administration
