Release of a new range of advanced-technology bike seats is receiving a warm welcome from casual bike riders through to more serious cyclists. The new seats have been designed to remove the problems of ℠saddle soreness´ and back strain and avoid the highly publicized complaint of sexual dysfunction caused from riding a bicycle.
Product design group, Laterelle, have released a range of bike seats that use new, patented design technology, to remove all unhealthy pressure from the central crotch area and genitals, making for happier butts and avoiding the ℠not tonight dear´ syndrome.
Solving the age-old saddle soreness problem has been a major challenge for bicycle designers for over a century. Laterelle´s Head Designer, Peter Clutton, states, “It´s mainly because they have always created ℠saddles´, instead of seats. Our bodies are really not designed to be supported centrally, by a rounded, pear-shaped saddle that presses into the central crotch area.
The human physique requires lateral support, from beneath the buttocks, to achieve anatomically-correct support and riding comfort”
Clutton says Laterelle is ℠on a mission´, to remove all the resistance people have to bike riding due to saddle soreness and lower back strain, stating, “Billions of dollars are being spent around the globe on cycling infrastructure and promotions to get more people using bicycles more often, to reduce traffic congestion, increase national fitness and assist the environment, but saddle soreness and back strain associated with riding a bicycle still stops most people from becoming regular bike users. Laterelle is committed to changing that.”
Advice given on how to avoid saddle soreness and sexual dysfunction from cycling is usually based on the time-worn suggestions of wearing bike shorts, changing the saddle position, rising up from the saddle every so often, etc. but, Clutton says, “None of this is really going to solve these problems if the rider is still using a traditionally-shaped ℠saddle´, whereas using a ℠seat´ with the correct shape, will allow every rider to have a healthy, pain-free ride.”
LATERELLE is an Australian-based sports and recreational product design company, having designed and developed golf, fishing and cycling products for many years.
