Generation America Survey Finds that 95% of Seniors Support the Ryan Plan to Save Medicare

August 30, 2012

A new survey by Generation America reveals what senior citizens think of several divisive issues this election season, including Medicare and Social Security.

AUSTIN, TEXAS (PRWEB) August 29, 2012

As Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan is poised to speak before the Republican National Convention, a new Generation America survey of its members indicates strong support of the candidate´s plan to save Medicare.

The question posed to seniors was, “Do you approve of Congressman Paul Ryan’s plan to guarantee and keep the benefits the same for current Medicare recipients and offer future recipients under the age of 55 the option of purchasing private insurance?”

Nearly 95% of the 5,000 respondents involved in the survey declared their support of the Ryan Plan. In addition to these overwhelming results, the survey also found the following:

  •     Over 88% support a privatized option for Social Security investments.
  •     Over 70% of those surveyed want the Bush-era tax cuts permanently approved, while 25% want them extended.

These results demonstrate a strong affinity between the Republican candidates and senior citizen voters on several key issues. More results of the survey are available online at http://www.GenerationAmerica.org/survey.
