CPI joins an industry body formed by the Smart Card Alliance to promote efficient and effective migration to EMV-enabled cards, devices and terminals in the United States
Littleton, Colo. (PRWEB) October 08, 2012
CPI Card Group (CPI), a global leader in financial and commercial card production, EMV cards and related services, announced today that the company has joined the EMV Migration Forum, an industry body formed by the Smart Card Alliance to promote the efficient, timely and effective migration to EMV-enabled cards, devices and terminals in the United States.
The EMV Migration Forum is an independent, cross-industry body created to address issues that require broad cooperation and coordination across many constituents in the payments space. CPI Card Group has been an active member of the Smart Card Alliance for over five years contributing through specific projects such as education programs and market research. CPI Card Group also participates in several councils within the Alliance including Payments and Mobile, which is serving as the advisory group for emerging payment technologies.
“The migration to EMV in the U.S. is a significant challenge for issuers, payment processors and industry suppliers,” said Steve Montross, president and CEO of CPI Card Group. “Through the creation of the EMV Migration Forum it will enable all stakeholder groups to collaborate, discuss key challenges and ultimately agree on a best practice approach to the transition. We have enjoyed a long and valuable relationship with the Smart Card Alliance and look forward to playing a key role within the EMV Migration Forum”.
“CPI Card Group has, and continues to be, a valuable contributor to the Smart Card Alliance,” said Smart Card Alliance Executive Director and EMV Migration Forum Acting Director, Randy Vanderhoof. “As a market leader in card production in the United States, CPI Card Group will be able to bring its perspective of the U.S. market and its EMV experience from other global markets to support the EMV Migration Forum to achieve its goals.”
