Likening the battle against breast cancer to the Invasion at Normandy during World War II, a spokesperson for SharedSorrows.com says that Susan G Komen for the Cure has changed the dynamics of the battle against breast cancer. “Many valiant warriors perished in the early stages of the Normandy Invasion,” says Anne Stewart, but “they turned the tide of that war.”

“Many have lost someone precious to them–a mom, sister, daughter or a dear friend because of breast cancer–but the battle was not in vain,” she states emphatically.  She loves to quote Dorothy Bernhard who said, “Courage is fear that has said its prayers.”  “Many of us have been privileged to know these valiant warriors and they have inspired us.  One of my fellow teachers–and a dear friend–passed away two years ago this month and it still hurts! Susan G Komen for the Cure is at the forefront of the ‘Invasion against Breast Cancer’, and I believe that because of their efforts we will prevail in this battle too.”

Stewart encourages those who have lost a loved one to take time during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to create a free EternaPage at SharedSorrows.com as a lasting memorial to their own loved ones who have braved this battle.  Shared Sorrows is also donating a portion of the proceeds from purchases on their site to Susan G Komen for the Cure during the month of October.
