Ali Gilmore Joins Forces with Cancer Angels of San Diego
Angels and Artists Unite to Support Stage IV Cancer Patients. Author Ali Gilmore partners with Cancer Angels of San Diego to offer support to local Stage IV cancer patients.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 04, 2012
Ali Gilmore, author of the unique and humorous cancer survival guide“The C Card and Me – How I beat stage IV cancer (to a pulp)” joins forces with Cancer Angels of San Diego (CASD) this holiday season. She’ll be attending their annual holiday gathering/fundraiser on December 8th in Encinitas where Grammy award winning Wayne Johnson will perform along with local favorite musician and author John Cain.
Besides book signing, Ali will be sharing her inspiring cancer survival story with attendees and giving a rare performance of one of her original songs (By New Year’s Day), written in 2009 and recorded as she was beginning chemotherapy in 2010.
As part of her commitment to the cause, Ali donates a portion of book and merchandise sales to a different cancer charity each month. She is particularly delighted that in December, CASD is the chosen charity. With 25% of San Diego County’s cancer patients being diagnosed as Stage IV and 33% of them unable to afford their medical or housing costs, CASD provides much needed financial burden relief, which is paid directly to providers.
Ali explains why this event is so special to her.
“No cancer patient should ever have to choose between having a roof over their head or affording life saving treatment. That’s where CASD steps in. CASD was there for me when I was in need. I’m happy for the opportunity to give back and do my part to ensure they’re able to help others.”
This month you can inspire a loved one with an uplifting gift while supporting a charity who helps the loved ones of others in the San Diego area. For more information or to donate directly, go to the CASD website.
