A New Product, Fresh Patch, Helps Protect Small Dogs and Puppies

December 27, 2012

Coyotes and large birds have been known to attack and kill small pets outdoors. The innovative Fresh Patch indoor dog potty can help minimize the occurrence of such attacks.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 26, 2012

Dog owners who use Fresh Patch, a real-grass indoor dog potty, are helping to protect their small dogs and puppies from attacks by coyotes and large birds of prey such as hawks, owls and eagles.

Several celebrities living in Southern California know the scenario too well. Dancing with the stars contestant and Playboy Playmate Shanna Moakler lost one of her dogs to a hawk on April 24, 2012 in Calabasas, California. This was Moakler´s second pet to be killed in a wild animal attack. In 2009, singer Jessica Simpson lost her maltipoo, Daisy, to a coyote attack in Encino, California. And Rocker, Ozzy Osbourne, lost his Pomeranian, Little Bit, to a coyote at his Los Angeles home.

Dog owners may believe that putting a small dog in a fenced yard, or walking it on a leash, will protect it. However, those measures will not necessarily keep predators from victimizing small dogs. Such attacks have even been reported when an owner is supervising or carrying the dog, or when a small dog is outside with a group of larger dogs, such as in a dog-park setting. Because the air space above a small dog is completely open, there is nothing to prevent a predator bird from striking. Dogs of 20 pounds or less are particularly at risk because a predator bird can easily fly away while carrying that much weight in its talons.

The Fresh Patch Company notes that its product eliminates the need to leave small dogs outside their homes without close and constant human supervision, which most dog owners cannot provide. With Fresh Patch, dogs can attend to their bathroom needs on their own schedules, while safely staying inside their homes.
