Fitness Expert Lorna Kleidman Comments on Article Concerning Weight Loss as a New Year’s Resolution
After several fitness experts weighed in on the subject in the article, Kleidman added a few of her own comments as well.

On December 31, Lorna Kleidman responds to a recent article which discusses how many exercise hopefuls have a tendency to work out after the New Year beings, but quickly drop out after only a few weeks of effort.
The article published by Tallahassee.com features several different fitness experts commenting on resolution weight loss. According to many of the experts, people that make their New Year´s resolution to exercise more usually abandon the promise within a few weeks.
26-year-old Esther Castro is the first to be quoted in the article. “There´s never really a reason to start off [after the New Year]. If you´re going to lose weight and get fit you might as well do it the next day after you decide to do it. It has to be a lifelong commitment,” she said.
The article goes on to discuss fitness coordinator Angela Glenn. She agrees with Castro´s philosophy and adds that “the culture of health and fitness should be year-round, but the influx of healthy newcomers levels off a bit by the middle of the year.”
Jumping into a workout when you´re already out of shape can also be potentially dangerous. People might strain themselves too hard or pull a muscle.
Lorna Kleidman, a fitness expert who uses kettlebells in her classes, comments on the article by advising that instead of starting a workout routine in the New Year, resolutions should include implementing new exercise techniques to existing workouts. “There are plenty of exercises out there that you can experiment with, so instead of saying ℠I´m going to lose this much weight in 2013,´ just say that you´ll stay active and try new exercise routines,” she said.
Kleidman added that kettlebells are great for people who are looking to add a new workout. They are easy, fun and most importantly effective since they exercise the entire body rather than just one specific muscle group.
