MDSave Teams Up with Second Harvest Food Bank to Help Stamp Out Hunger in Middle Tennessee
MDSave, a Nashville-based web service that provides users with the ability to obtain high-quality medical care at discount prices, is announcing a three week campaign to generate funds for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. For every like the company’s Facebook page gets until the end of the month, MDSave will donate $1 (enough to pay for four entire meals) to the non-profit that fights hunger across the nation.
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) January 11, 2013
MDSave, a Nashville-based discounted medical services website, has recently teamed up with the Middle Tennessee chapter of Second Harvest Food Bank in an attempt to make a dent in Middle Tennessee´s hunger problems. MDSave, with support from Second Harvest, will be running a campaign on their social media channels to generate funding and greater awareness of hunger in Nashville. The initiative works like this: for every new “like” MDSave gets on their Facebook over the specified duration of the campaign, MDSave will add $1 to their total donation to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, which serves over 46 counties in the central and western regions of the state.
“We are proud to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank,” said Ani Osborne, Director of IT at MDSave. “They provide a valuable service to thousands of Tennesseans. What better way to serve than to provide nutritious meals for those in need.”
The campaign, which starts Friday, January 11, will run until the end of the month. MDSave´s goal is to get to 500 “likes” on their Facebook page, which would merit a donation of $500 to the food distribution center. According to Second Harvest Food Bank, $500 is enough money to fund 2000 meals for the hungry. Even if they fail to reach this goal, every dollar donated can provide four entire meals for a person in need, so every little bit helps.
According to Second Harvest, nearly 400,000 people in Middle Tennessee don´t know where their next meal is coming from and 1 in 6 Americans (1 in 4 children) are at risk of hunger.
“This partnership with Second Harvest makes sense,” said Osborne. “We´re a company that helps people stay healthy while saving money, and basic nutrition is essential for good health.”
