Voices Against Brain Cancer (VABC), a brain cancer research advocacy organization, hosts an event with the Indiana Pacers honoring brain cancer survivor, Greg Hansbrough, on March 14.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 01, 2013

On March 1, brain cancer awareness and advocacy organization, Voices Against Brain Cancer (VABC), announces its “Hoops With The Hansbroughs” event on March 14 honoring Greg Hansbrough, a brain cancer survivor and brother to two Indiana Pacers players.

The event, scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, will pay tribute to Hansbrough and his entire family, along with other brain cancer survivors and their doctors.

Michael Klipper, chairman of VABC, said there would be an opportunity to play basketball on the Pacers’ practice court with players Tyler and Ben Hansbrough. “Brain cancer is an extremely difficult thing to overcome and we want to honor that,” he said. “This year we are honoring Greg Hansbrough, whose brothers, Tyler and Ben, are play for the Indiana Pacers. He´s had a hard journey. The support from his family and doctors is truly amazing. We just want to showcase that support and celebrate life.”

Klipper said the event would feature special guests from the Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center at Indiana University who helped treat some of the brain cancer patients. Patrick J. Loehrer, Sr., MD, Edward Dropcho, MD and Stephanie A. Wagner, MD will be recognized for their efforts in curing brain cancer and saving lives.

“These doctors are truly amazing and their work deserves to be celebrated,” Klipper said. “They work hard to save lives and find a cure for brain cancer. This is the least we could do for them.”

Attendees will also get a chance to bid on exciting auction items and mingle with members of the Pacers team as food and drinks are served. Live conference games will be televised from the bar.

Ticket prices range from $150 to $500 and can be purchased by visiting the “Hoops With The Hansbroughs” event page, HoopsWithTheHansbroughs online.
