Create Scented or Unscented Candles with Powder From Eco-Artware.com

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) March 19, 2013

Eco-Artware.com, curator of eco-friendly artware, housewares, and gifts has discovered the ultimate ecologically sound answer to the vexing question, “How do I properly dispose of my used cooking oil?” The answer is: “Don´t dispose of it. Make a candle from it instead.”

A typical kit to make candles from used cooking oil includes, a bag of candle powder, cotton wicks and wick stabilizers.

The innovative, patented powder, produced by a company called The Greatest Candle Company in the World. transforms used oil irreversibly into candle wax while it also neutralizes food odors at the same time. All that´s needed is a microwave to make it happen. One 4-ounce can of the powder creates six, 4-ounce candles which take an hour to solidify after they are poured. Each will burn for 30 hours.

Eco-Artware.com has added The Greatest Candle kits to its collection under both the Tabletop Gifts and DIY Crafts categories. “We are very excited about this product not only as a gift but because it is an economical and creative way to recycle used cooking oil,” said Reena Kazmann, CEO of Eco-Artware.com.

Candles made from the kits are perfect for economical and eco-conscious home décor and dinners, thank-you and housewarming gifts, wedding favors, corporate gifts, fundraisers for churches and schools, and emergency lighting in power outages. The kits themselves make an especially good activity for nature-conscious organizations such as the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and nature centers.

How it works

To make a recycled-oil candle, just add 1 heaping tablespoon of candle powder to 4 ounces of strained vegetable oil, mix, and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Add 2 more tablespoons of powder, mix again. Next pour the mixture into heat-proof containers. Use the kit´s candle wick holders to place and hold the wicks while the wax cools and becomes solid.

The Neutral mixture may be scented with any essential oil you choose. Add a few drops of your scent while the wax is still liquid.

Eco-Artware.com also offers a Kaffir Lime scented version of the powder that creates candles with a light citrus scent with a hint of spice.

Kits include powder, wicks, and full instructions, and are packaged in 100% recycled tin cans and cardboard boxes. The 4-ounce kit sells for $30, and the larger kit with 100 ounces of powder that will create 150, 4-ounce candles, $76.
