As part of a larger initiative to educate pet parents on how to have the healthiest and happiest dogs and promote the importance of responsible dog parenting, The Dogington Post and Merrick Pet Care teamed up to create “Merrick Pet Care´s Dogington University,” a series of eight live seminars presented by top dog trainers from around the world, which began April 15 and continues daily until April 24. A full schedule is available at http://dogingtonpost.com.

On Monday, April 22 at 4:00PM EST, “The Original Dog Whisperer” Paul Owens will present a live, one-hour training seminar to readers and fans of the Dogington Post.

Paul began training dogs in 1972. For over 40 years, he has been one of the leading proponents of positive, nonviolent animal training in the world. Paul is the founder/director of the children´s after-school, violence prevention program, Paws for Peace. He has won several awards in competitive obedience, participated and taught agility and water work and been an evaluator for service dogs. He is also a Canine Good Citizenship evaluator.

He is the author of three books: the best selling, The Dog Whisperer; A Compassionate Nonviolent Approach to Dog Training (Adams Media) which has sold over 300,000 copies all over the world, The Puppy Whisperer and The Dog Whisperer presents: Good Habits for Great Dogs available on his website, http://www.RaiseWithPraise.com.

He explains, “I believe nonviolence fosters nonviolence. Because of the link between dog and human behavior, nonviolent dog training contributes to helping build a world of peace for humans and dogs. When people, especially children, are successful using nonviolent methods with animals, they feel good about themselves and they are encouraged to have a kinder, more positive attitude with their friends, family, and the environment.”

During his live seminar on Monday, Paul will discuss his compassionate, non-violent approach to dog training.

“We´re getting a huge response from our Dogington University training series,” said Brandy Arnold, Content Editor for Dogington Post, “and we are beyond thrilled to have top trainers like Paul Owens joining us in our mission to improve the lives of dogs.”
