Cumberland Academy of Georgia has announced that its students and teachers will travel to Nashville for an educational trip that will teach students about independence as well as teamwork.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 14, 2013
High school students from Cumberland Academy of Georgia, a SACS-CASI accredited, non-profit, independent school dedicated to students with special needs, will begin a journey to visit Nashville. Cumberland Academy of Georgia is a school for high functioning Autism, Asperger´s, ADD and ADHD students. Teachers from Cumberland developed the trip to be fun as well as educational for the students. The trip was designed to develop teamwork among the students as well as expose the students to conversations, appropriate responses and other social skills experiences. Additionally, students will gain knowledge on how to travel and will be encouraged to work together in a team atmosphere. Students and teachers will visit a variety of places in Nashville from the country music scene to famous Civil War sites such as Andrew Jackson´s house.
For some students, this is the first experience away from home. Understanding this, teachers will help students gain a deeper understanding of independent living and other life skills while under the banner of a fun activity.
“We are excited to offer trips of this kind to our students,” said Don Sasso, Principal of Cumberland Academy of Georgia. “This tour of Nashville will provide students with a worthwhile educational experience as well as engage them in an exercise that will teach and reinforce important social skills.”
