New York, New York (PRWEB) May 22, 2013

Dr. Jeffrey Adler of Adler Footcare of Greater New York has been invited to speak at the Academy of Ambulatory Foot & Ankle Surgery (AAFAS) Cadaver Seminar at LSU Medical School June 20-22, 2013. Dr. Adler will present on the topics of MIS Forefront Reconstruction Surgery and Fox Arthrodesis for Hammertoe Correction. Dr. Adler has extensive experience as a Board Certified New York Podiatrist and Professor of Minimally Invasive Surgery, and is a Fellow of the AAFAS.

Dr. Adler has lectured both nationally and internationally on minimally invasive surgical procedures. He is one of only 12 Professors of Minimally Invasive Foot Surgery of the Academy of Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Surgeons in the world in recognition of his career contributions to this field of medicine. His presentation about MIS Forefront Reconstruction Surgery will discuss the proper steps and techniques required to perform the surgery. Minimally invasive techniques allow doctors to perform procedures by making a small incision or no incision at all, causing little or no trauma to the patient and minimal scarring.

“Speaking at the AAFAS seminar allows me to share about the joy that is experienced by helping people with this wonderful technology,” Dr. Adler said. “Attendees at the cadaver surgery seminar are doing the right thing by attending and learning from experienced doctors how to refine their techniques.”

Dr. Adler will also be presenting about Fox Arthrodesis Surgery for Hammertoe Correction. The process uses a minimally invasive approach that causes fewer problems than traditional, arthroplasty, and other kinds of hammertoe surgeries. It corrects the hammertoe by fusing the joints together and surgically straightening the toe.

“I have performed 1,800 Fox arthrodesis procedures since October 1988 and complaints of postoperative pain were present in less than 1% of the patients I operated on,” Dr. Adler said. “I have obtained better long-term, pain-free results with quicker time back in shoes and grateful patients than I ever got with arthroplasty or other procedures.”

Dr. Adler will be presenting a third short lecture about the usage of stem cells during minimally invasive bunion surgery. Adler Footcare is the first podiatric practice in the Northeast to use embryonic, life-birth stem cell technology called Amnio Matrix Allograft implantation in the big toe joint to attempt to cure degenerative osteoarthritic changes.

The Academy of Ambulatory Foot & Ankle Surgery is an educational organization that provides continuing medical courses to a global network of members and non-members of the medical community and general public. Its ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for patients with foot and ankle disorders through innovative education, research, and service, while promoting ethical high quality treatment of patients by morally motivated professionals.
