Kimberley Rideout Shares Her Triumphant Cancer Survival Story

May 24, 2013

Author announces release of ℠Taken to My Knees´.

RED DEER, Alberta (PRWEB) May 24, 2013

On March 14, 2012, Kim Rideout heard the words that one in every nine women will hear in her lifetime: she had breast cancer. Her new, candid memoir, “Taken to My Knees: My Journey After a Breast Cancer Diagnosis” (published by AuthorHouse), takes readers along with her through the days that followed.

Rideout drew from her daily journals to give readers a detailed glimpse into what it was like going through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments to deal with stage two breast cancer. She relives the early days of her diagnosis with brutal honesty, taking readers along with her as she makes daily attempts to reconcile what she called her “new normal” and the gut-wrenching fear that a cancer diagnosis brings.

An excerpt from “Taken to My Knees”:

“I watched her face, I looked at the screen, and then I stared at the ceiling. Cyst? Infection? What? Right away I started making deals with God. I kept looking back at the screen, trying to see what she was seeing, but it all looked the same to me. Could it be possible that it was nothing? Was I borrowing trouble? Oh God, please let it be nothing, I pleaded in my mind.”

Rideout stresses the importance of being surrounded with love, family and friendship during the healing process. “I hope that readers will see that a breast cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence,” she says. “I hope they will see that, while the journey is hard and at times heart-wrenching, there is so much love and happiness that surrounds you“¦ that all you need to do is look for it.”
